Many folks are killed when they loose control of their cars and hit trees and poles. Seat Belts are not a cure all. In fact the injuries sustain by seat belts would surprise many. I've seen small cars broadside SUV's and flip them right over and many inside did not fair well;the roof is the weakest link when the inverse rule applies.
