One big part of Picken's plan that doesn't make sense is to try and switch the transportation fleet to natural gas. It would be a huge infrastructure change to the fueling stations even more than the cars and trucks. By the time it is finished natural gas would also be very expensive. Pickens is currently the biggest builder of natural gas fueling stations so he stands to make lots of money from that part of the plan.

It would be a much better idea to use the natural gas to generate electricity. Then the transportation fleet could be converted to primarily electricity ( and keep diesel for long haul transports for now). That way the gas, wind, dams, and whatever else is invented will all be able to power the cars the same way instead of having different "nozzles" for gasoline, diesel, electric, and natural gas.
