Hopefully, it's possible to do both at the same time. Candidate takes the higher ground, etc. Obama's current strategy worked fine against Hillary. Obama got his star status by his positive performances, and Hillary felt obliged to go after him with the whole "negative definition" thing that just looked anxious and desperate after a while. It never took her far enough to "clinch the deal". McCain is falling in the same trap - smitten with his own experience and confident he can tear Obama down to size. I look forward to the same result as the primaries.
