I did mix LNG and CNG up. However, I will point out that if you take my post and replace the LNG with CNG, it is accurate. Now, I did mix the two up, but that should have been clear to anyone knowledgeable in the subject. Because I talked about the lower energy density and all.

So, I did make a mistake with using LNG instead of CNG. However, everything in my post is correct for CNG except for the liquification. And nothing else is changed.

Current consumption is about 2 trillion cubic feet per year.

Proven reserves are somewhere around 150 trillion cubic feet.

At least in 1999. Unproven reserves are much higher. And most of it is on land and so cheaper to drill for.
