The $22 was kind of a joke bet between Arnie and me. If you want to join in, why not. The more the merrier.

I have never mastered the art of shorting stocks so I don't follow companies that I think are going down. My position in Nextel is long and my average cost is just under $20. I suspect I have owned Nextel before you did and I definitely own more than freeus's declared shares.

My post was not intended to offend anyone, especially freeus. One of the best value of SI is investor sentiments. All active threads have indecisive lurkers, looking and looking for the right opportunity. I cannot prove it scientifically but it seems to me that when this group of investors finally decide to jump in, a top is near. Go read the IOM, WDC type threads through time and you will see what I mean. This investor psychology is also used by some TAers to explain movement.

As for Nextel, I have stated that I am a short term bull and long term "don't know". That is the main reason why I participate here. If I no longer have a long position in Nextel, I would simply disappear. We are already suffering from information overload. Why waste time reading something that I have no interest in.

Nextel is at a crucial point of the cellular war. CDMA appears to be the clear winner, with most NEW systems going that route. GSM is receiving contracts all over the world but they are all expansions to existing systems where the providers have no choice. Next generation is w-CDMA and satellite, be it Iridium or Globalstar.

Wouldn't it be prudent to think about how Nextel's iDEN fit into the big picture? Can the advantages that Nextel enjoys today be just standard features of the future? I think these are ligitimate questions.

Have I answer all of your questions.

Ramsey
