Hi Mike,

-you wrote
"Oh, you can play the game, but the costs make it a bad deal. Also, the absence of a short sale rebate for individuals makes using equities a bad deal. I would have bought a put and bought a call, but the prices didn't look good."

I've never quite felt I had the hang of these options so maybe this is a dumb statement, but based on what you said above, couldn't you have taken advantage of the high premiums by selling a call on the platinum and selling a put on the gold?

I was thinking about this play(long gold, short platinum) the other day and it would seem perfectly suited to doing if one thought stagflation was the economic order of the day. But maybe there is a better industrial metal than platinum?
