Good luck Bill,

If you stick with it, you will realize that losing weight is not such a difficult thing.

BTW, it is very difficult, nearly impossible to gain weight on Atkins diet, or more precisely, to gain fat. And it is possible / much simpler to lose fat.

The reason is that insulin works as a one way valve. High insulin level opens the valve wide for excess energy nutrient to flow into fat storage. While insulin is high, nothing can escape the fat storage, no matter what you do (excersize-wise).

On the other hand, if the insulin is low, the valve of flow into fat cells does not open, so it is next to impossible to gain fat, even if one overeats. Energy just gets burned off.

As far as overeating, low carb dieting actually reduces food cravings. I don't know if you noticed in the latest Israeli study, the subject on Mediterranean and Low Fat diets had strict limit on calories, Low Carb (Atkins) dieters had no limit. Yet, they did better than competing groups.
