Business Week had item about yet another company that monetizes intellectual capital, i.e., patents. I believe the company's name is Acacia (unfortunately I lost the piece I clipped from magazine). I am speculating that Ampex either did not try very hard to find help in this area, or they found that there really is vast potential and they don't want shareholders to get any of it. I don't recall any information regarding results from the two companies that they allegedly contacted. Also, as I recall, VV wanted to buy the patents, so they must see great value. This issue was dealt with in the same manner as the alleged attempt to find an equity partner to keep the company going - there really was no valid consideration of that option.
