The contractors seem to have finished with the
basic laying of cable around our neighborhood.
After the fibre went up on the poles, a Verizon
truck spent a few days here and there--quiet now.

After Verizon jacked our rates up some more,
for both telephone and our DSL, we signed up
for Comcast Digital Voice, and I'll be test
driving Comcast internet as well. Might as well
do that since the workman will be here anyway to
setup our new phone service.

but I expect to keep Comcast off of our phone lines--
I assume there will be some sort of transmitter
at the end of our coax, or a POTS plug will be
there, and we can use a wireless phone.

I'll continue to subscribe to Verizon's DSL, I think
it will have to be configured without dial tone

As far as I can tell, a person might spend $1000 a year
for TV/Internet/Phone--maybe twice that if they aren't
very frugual. I guess I am shooting to keep things
under a grand.

I wouldn't be surprised a year or two from now to find
that we are using Comcast for voice/internet while
FiOS becomes our TV provider, so long as Verizon has
a competitive rate for basic cable.

Verizon would do well to keep people signed up,
especially just before they start up the TV service.
When it looks obvious on your monthly bill that
your being milked, it is pretty easy to defect.
