it feels like people are trying to get free advice because they are too lazy to do their own research.

no, it feels like you are being a jerk for bragging about your tax-free living with super-secret strategies known only to you, which you nevertheless blame others for being ignorant of due to their laziness, LOL.

just imagine if you came on these boards bragging about all the great stocks you own. then, when somebody asks what the stocks are, you tell them, "It's a secret. You, too, would know about these great stocks if only you studied the markets and weren't so lazy." people would think you are either a liar or a jerk, if not both.

a few months ago, didn't you describe in excruciating detail how you insulated your house and how your furnace works or something? you were willing to provide all sorts of detail about that, but then when you brag about your tax-free life, you say it's a secret. LOL!

people on SI are willing to "look under the hood". if you say what the strategy is, they can assess for themselves whether it makes sense. coming on and blowing a bunch of hot air without any facts to back it up sounds like something one would expect at one of those "success" seminars wannabe real estate moguls waste good money on.

either don't talk about such things at all, or be prepared to explain what you are doing.
