Yeah, it went right over my head. Didn't strike me as being even remotely funny. And I'm usually a very easy mark for comedy. For example, I thought the "Sore/Loserman" bumper stickers of 2000 were very funny, and I admired their cleverness, despite the fact that they represented a view I didn't (and don't) agree with.

As a former standup comedian, and one who has written comedy routines for other comics, I'd have to say there were some structural problems that caused the joke to fall flat.

For one thing, the "Christian" in question was not performing an "Honor Killing". He was just a lunatic who had probably listened to Rush Limbaugh once too many times. In fact, there's really no parallel at all between the two stories you referred to, other than the fact that the perpetrator's religion is mentioned in both cases.

Comedy is hard. We all miss sometimes.
