Ken, if you look through Chai Na Ta's annual reports, they usually include the type of info you are asking about (I have seen the latest annual report, but previous reports discussed these issues).
North American ginseng usually matures in 4 years, but can be harvested after three. CC's typical harvest is after 4 years.
Since I no longer hold many shares, I have taken myself off their mailing list, but from the last release I have, Oct 9/96, I know they had 1,478 acres under harvest, of which 224 acres were planted that fall (96). The release also estimated the value of the crops at maturity at Cdn $150 million. They also expected to harvest 300 acres that year.
