LC - I haven't checked the TSX side, but looking at the US side, I see that as of the end of mid-July STHJF has attracted a short position of 162,373 shares. That's up from 22,000+ as of the beginning of the year. It took a big jump up in April but has been increasing steadily from there.

On top of that, the Chairman of the Board and former CEO (Dev R.) sold about 50K shares recently. It's not a huge amount of selling but it could not have come at a worse time in terms of perception. I spoke to IR about this yesterday and he suggested I contact Dev R. directly about it because he had just become aware of it himself and was clearly not pleased to be receiving many phone calls and e-mails demanding an explanation.

As far as I know, nothing has changed in regard to their mine and mill permitting efforts other than they are progressing, but clearly the market doesn't give a hoot about any of that right now. I guess investors don't feel that the US is far enough up an energy creek and are unconcerned about the fate of companies that are working to develop domestic energy supplies.

Someone put a very large short position on EFRFF recently as well, so Strathmore is not alone. It seems strange to me that shorts would be increasing their positions after the stocks have already been smashed, but there it is...
