Harry, re: "Having spent 29 years in Marketing and Advertising"

I've spent a few years in sales and marketing, none in advertising. I would like you much more professional opinion, couldn't they have spent this (our) money in a way that would produce more computer sales?

The targeting of these ads, as I see it:

1. 100% consumer, primarily uninformed 1st time buyers
2. Brand identity as opposed to increased sales
3. Young people / game players as opposed to family decision maker with the $'s to buy the most expensive computer (PII)

The other problem I have is that I suspect that a large majority of the viewers don't even know what it is they are advertising, too much color and flash, no substance.

Really my humble opinion, been waiting for an opinion from someone in advertising. Looking forward to your observations.

John
