"Boiled down: the gov't is being run by and for a very few select individuals."

Most of what you say is right, but I think it is not only a select few, but the masses as well...after all, everyone was speculating on housing.

I have a co-worker who is trying to relocate and is having lots of trouble selling his house...he said to me, "I hope they pass the housing bill, maybe it will help me find a buyer." We all have our hand in everyone elses pocket, and the result is the bankrupting of our society.

The boston tea party was all about property rights...we have completely forgotten about the role of property rights in a political system.
