Oh yeah, the fine print. How many people live in cities that have a large power plant in it?

Everyone is an environmentalist, it's just some don't admit it, they just want other people to live in the trash and the toxic waste. They want other peoples kids inhaling the fumes that will damage their brains.

What goes around comes around though.

Back to the subject at hand. Line losses. According to the data I have just been looking at, about 7+ % of electric power is lost supplying network to network. These are highly efficient mega high voltage transmission lines. Final line losses are not mentioned. I wonder if there is a problem hidden by one of those definition statements somewhere. I did my electricians certification a few years ago, and I was surprised how much electrical energy was being lost in the final mile. (from the last transformer to the load in the household).

I have a sneaking feeling something is being kept hush hush.

It's all AC, which does create losses.

Not to worry, the consumer pays for the lot, and isn't going anywhere. Thats the main thing.
