Oil prices are high due to supply and demand. Leasing bans do affect supply negatively. How much we don't know, nor do we know for certain how much the price is impacted by that. Whatever impact it has, it placed upward pressure on prices.

The Iraq war arguably has little impact on supply currently as Iraq has now returned to its prewar production rate. It probably had some affect on prices in past years though certainly. However, the last recent big run up in price has coincided with increasing production in Iraq.

Democrats who have not been able to accomplish anything due to incessant filibusters by Republicans over the last 1.5 years are not at fault.

Spoken by a loyal Democrat. I've heard from another source that Democrats can't be held responsible for anything as long as any Republican opposes them.
