To a standing ovation, he said, "And let's get serious about alternative energy sources like solar and wind and bio-diesel. Let's raise fuel efficiency standards on cars. Let's get plug-in hybrids all across America. Let's finally free ourselves from dependence on foreign oil. That's the direction we need to go."

The above opens the perfect argument. An articulate opponent could run this one to the victory line. Yes - use all of the wind and solar - to generate electricity. But then there is the ugly problem of 15 mm bbls per day of imports. This is the 1000 lb gorilla in the house. Do all of the things on alternates that can be done - but the 15 mm bbls of imports will still exist. Drill and produce - to also reduce this number.

It is not an either or - it is an all that can be done. Fools ignore numbers - fools who cannot expose it are just as dumb. Let's see what happens.

It is sad we have such an educated and unknowing electorate.
