That is the sort of thing he is talking about. If you never replace plugs and air filter, you definitely are wasting gas.

Well, I get the air filter replaced on schedule, but there is absolutely no need to replace plugs on a regular basis anymore. If you took a car in to have it "tuned up" today most shops would laugh at you. Today's plugs can easily handle 100K miles without significant electrode wear.

Estimates are that, on average, fuel economy can be increased by 10% with proper inflation.

Estimates are bullshit then.

It is estimated that underinflated tires can increase fuel economy by as much as 3-4% (if all four tires are not only low, but near flat). Not 10%. Now, of course, most people do not go around with materially underinflated tires. In fact, my last two cars have had tire pressure monitors that will hound the shit out of you if any of them is low.

Underinflated tires will decrease gas mileage, obviously. But to suggest that if everyone would just check their tire pressure more regularly you would save as much oil as could be yielded by additional drilling is utterly stupid.

So sad that they actually deal in reality.

There wasn't a shred of reality in what that liar said.
