the infrastructure....provided by government..

It's unfortunately necessary that we are dependent on government for some infrastructure; interstates, some water, some sewage, some power, to begin.

I once worked for a state Highway Dept. The disgusting waste and inefficiency was part of what led me to an interest in economics.

The bureaucracies become a parasitic faction whose interests lie in electing their own pickpockets to exploit the productive sector. The waste is a diversion of resources that could have been put to more mutually advantageous use elsewhere.

America has done fantastically well. That's largely in spite of a bloated government.
