If the AGIA license for TransCanada passes the Senate, then
we'll still have the issue of the competing pipeline proposal from COP/BP.

I also question about whether the pipeline is economically justified at the current time. Thanks to new technology we have a very large supply of gas coming on line from tight shale deposits in the Lower 48 states and Canada. It will be interesting to see how this new supply affects the "open season" bidding that's needed to justify constructing a pipeline.

P.S. Tentative Ted Stevens trial date set for September 24, so he would be on trial during the campaign season. Hearing on change-of-venue motion to move trial to Alaska set for August 19.
