Mike,
<These people don't want the truth. >
The truth?? How many times do you think we have held through negative periods and added to our positions to get the obscene returns we now enjoy?? How many times do you think we have been told that we have blinders on and "don't want the truth"?? How many times do you think we have been told that "things are different this time"?? I'll tell you, a LOT of times. The current arguments brought by the Intel bears and AMD/Cyrix fanatics are nothing we haven't heard dozens of times. Some people just never learn.
The turth??
The truth is that Cyrix and AMD are money losing machines with no strategy for becoming profitable. They have no leadership, poor management, no marketing, no brand awareness, meager process capabilities, scarce resources, and absolutely NO profits. Their mantra has become, "JUST WAIT UNTIL NEXT QUARTER, THINGS WILL BE BETTER".
The best line I ever heard on SI was a few days ago on the AMD or Cyrix thread when someome (Yousef perhaps) said something along the lines of
"AMD and Cyrix are truly non-profit organizations"
Perhaps instead of merging with NSM, Cyrix should merge with the United Way.
The truth??
The truth is that Intel is a cash generating mahcine, one of the most profitable companies in the history of mandkind. The truth is that Intel remains the most dominant technology company in the world with exceptional leadership/management, tremendous brand awareness/loyalty/name recognition, superior marketing and marketing resources, unmatched processes capability, huge output capacity (with high yields), obscene margins, enormous profits, great products, and nearly unlimited resources.
This is reality and this is the truth. What the bears are presenting are very unoriginal and worn out fantasies.
