Looks like AMD is getting a nice speed boost from 45nm, given the 4ghz clock speed being seen in (overclocked) samples: aceshardware.freeforums.org It may be that Intel is finding itself in more of a horse race than any of us expected - especially considering that 2.5ghz Opteron beats 3ghz Xeon in typical server loads, and that Xeon doesn't scale beyond 2 sockets (unless aided by IBM technology and augmented by an IBM chipset).
