Hi Jim,

Remember that 11n is backward compatible with 11DSSS/b/g (and 11a).

Regardless of the WFA's handset certifications, dual-mode handsets will use 11b/g in the 2.4 GHz band, as 11n with a single radio gives no increase in range. STBC has less than 3 dB performance benefit for a lot more work at the AP and in the handset, and LDPC does not matter for voice packets.

In handsets, talktime is more important than rate.

Talktime "Rate at range" can be measured three ways for each rate:

System received bits per meter per Joule

System transmitted bits per meter per Joule

Transmitted bits per meter per Joule
