8/1/08 update
The Nasdaq Composite Index closed the week almost exactly where it began, down -12.87% YTD (vs. -12.89% YTD a week ago). However, thanks mostly to the Imclone buyout offer, the Nasdaq Biotech Index managed a decent gain, closing Friday up 9.11% YTD (vs. up 6.37% YTD a week ago). The Contest portfolios' performance, regrettably, followed the Composite's lead, the median closing down -3.15% YTD (vs. down -3.14% YTD a week ago).
At week's end, 16 of the 33 Contest portfolios were in the black YTD but with only 6 of the portfolios beating the sizzling NBI. First place GENE's portfolio closed the week just shy of a double for the year, with a 99.6% YTD gain. ROBERT's portfolio remained in second place with a 38.8% YTD gain.
Have a terrific weekend folks!
