the fed is no longer solely in charge of our monetary policy.

china japan and saudi arabia hold enough reserves in dollars that do not need to be printed to render fed intervention(turning off the presses) ineffective.

also any attempt to curtail entitlements should have been done during the times of strong economic growth...

IMHO to make drastic cuts now would be suicide.
