October 8, 1997 Glenayre to Expand Digitel's Network for Nationwide Service CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Glenayre Technologies Inc. today announced that it will expand the regional paging network of Enlaces Radiofonicos, also known as Digitel, for nationwide service throughout Mexico. Through the $1.4 million order, Glenayre will add GL-T8601 and GL-T8611 transmitters to Digitel's network to provide high speed FLEX( paging services in 85 cities beginning in the fourth quarter of 1997. Digitel has been in the paging business for 25 years,and currently provides alphanumeric paging services to nearly 100,000 paging subscribers in 48 cities, including Mexico City. Glenayre Technologies Inc. is a worldwide provider of telecommunications infrastructure products and systems serving the paging, cellular, PCS, telco, voice processing, and point-to-point wireless service provider markets. Glenayre's net sales exceeded $390 million in 1996 and the company employs approximately 2,100 people worldwide.
