<Intel needs the momentum of an upgrade cycle. They always come out with the better chip that corporations are willing to pay high margins
for.

No one sees such a product now and everyone sees a glut of chips at the low end in the market.>

If only I had a dime for every time I heard this argument, I would have more money that from my shares INTC.

Upgrading is always going on and it always will be despite the repeated cries now (and many times in the past) that there is no compelling reason to upgrade.

Keep in mind that corporate America still has somewhere around 50% 486's. Don't you see these being replaced?? Different companies are on different schedules, but they all upgrade eventually. In the home too, people are constantly upgrading. I get asked for recommendations from friend, families, and co-workers literally every week on what PC they should get to replace their current one. These people are not interested in low end PC's. The low end PC sales are going primarily to first time buyers and represent incremental demand.

In addition, non-US PC growth hasn't even started. I always like to say that that in the US the technolgy revolution is in its infancy but in the rest of the world it is still in the womb. Demand??? We ain't seen nothing yet.

In addition, mobile PC growth (which is very high margin, high revenue) is exploding in the corporate world. This is a tremendous opportunity going forward for Intel. Everyone talks about the low end but the high end (notebooks) is growing just as fast.

<Yes but this time it isn't AMD or Cyrix beating INTC which no sane person would talk about given Intel's marekt share,>

Well, at least we agree on the bold portion although many on the AMD and Cyrix threads think that AMD and Cyrix are going to destroy Intel. Just ask Mike Talyor's mentor "Fuchi the nutcase".
