Ca doesn't want drilling, that is true. But it is against a backdrop of extreme conservation measures in CA that are not duplicated anywhere else. In other words CA does not want to drill here, just because Alabama can't conserve.

CA uses no coal fired electricity either, and has tried consistently to impose fuel efficiency standards on all vehicles sold here. CA is a clean energy state and has been for years, while the other states don't bother. Thats the issue I believe.

It reminds me of that auto industry guy (forgot his name) who posted here a few mos ago when we were talking about the EPA rejecting the CA cafe standards. He said "ALL you idiots in CA are going to be able to drive is a PRIUS!!!" without realizing thats all anybody WANTS to drive here, including the wealthiest executives. Until the rest of the country gets out of the SUVs and into Prius's, CA will continue to protest any drilling. I don't know if Pelosi will succeed though.
