This is a recent and interesting review from JAMA:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

My only comment is that the mechanism that produces valvular damage has the same explanation as the side effects presented in this review.

Neuroinvestment makes a good point regarding proven causality, it has not being proven for the valvular damage cases, but I do think it will be, the evidence is mounting.

How much will the actual liability be? if proven it will be a disaster for the companies involved, worse for the smaller ones. The actual research was done by IPIC if blame is assigned they will be hit big, except that they probably will not have the money to pay.

What about Intercardia, they are constituted as a different public company in charge of the bucindolol development. It was put in the market indenpendently to get money from the street. They probably can severe all the links, and avoid Intercardia from being hit.
