Darin,
Intel is in trouble, their proprietary slot 1 design and high
cost is keeping all but the extreme high end customers away on their
newest design "Tillamook", plus the fact that it will be replaced
within 6 months with the slot 2 successor.

For the common consumer the issue is, "who really needs that level of performance" for personal use?

They have publically stated that they have adequate capacity for the
rest of the year and thru the 1st quarter of next year, doesn't sound
like they are looking real hard to build new fabs if the current fabs
can meet the demand.
