Ran into a company of about 100+ people - a startup. To my surprise they had already implemented Oracle Financials - bodes well for Oracle's penetration into the small-mid size market. Oracle apps are relatively cheap - around $20,000 per module list plus a per user fee - since a smaller company may have only 5 to 10 concurrent users it doesnt add up to that much. The risk of implementing a proprietary system (extra costs of building, maintaining, finding standardized help/consulting)or going with a temporary solution which may be outgrown (solomon, great plains) is high in that regard. Plus the perception was since were going to be succesful- we may as well go with the leader!
