He has always said that conditions needed to be taken into consideration.

WHAT?!?

Have you not even been LISTENING to the man???

From the very outset he maintained he would set a firm withdrawal date of 16 months.

Only after being criticized by McCain did he change his tune. And for your information, the website was changed just before the European Tour.

And even after meeting with Petraeus he stuck with 16 months, EVEN THOUGH Petraeus has EXPLICITLY REFUSED to endorse anything other than a conditions-based withdrawal.

Even Maliki has had to correct Obama's remarks about the 16 months.

"AMMAN, Jordan — - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Tuesday defended his proposal to withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq over a 16-month period despite opposition to any timeline from the U.S. commander, Gen. David Petraeus."

Prior to his European Tour his website said the following:

"Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months.

From a memo put out by his OWN campaign (Sept, 07)

Obama would immediately begin to pull out troops engaged in combat operations at a pace of one or two brigades every month, to be completed by the end of next year.

The same memo also contained the following incorrect claim:

THE SURGE IS NOT WORKING

The "surge", of course, is the ONLY thing that would enable a near term troop withdrawal. Without the surge, a 16 or 24 month time frame would be absolute incompetence.

In the same document he referred to it as a "civil war" which was obviously wrong.

Now, it is a fact that Obama has backed off of the 16 month time frame in the last few months -- as McCain took him to task for being naive, inexperienced, and foolish. Earlier in the year, in a discussion on XM's POTUS08, it was pointed out by a group of liberal journalists how absurd the promise was, and that the first day he steps foot in the Oval Office he would have a totally different outlook on what he could feasibly do.

I just don't know how you can consider voting for a man you are THIS uninformed about.
