I think the US has the lowest probability of implosion by far. If push comes to shove, the US can essentially cut itself off from the rest of the world and return to a sixties or seventies lifestyle without too many dislocations. Certainly fewer dislocations than, say, World War II, and none of the casualties.

The US has all the essential resources, including energy resources, if it decides to consume wisely.

In a world where trade collapses, the survivors will be the ones that have the best combination of resources (water, land, mineral, energy) per capita.
