" So, WTF are we allowing our economy and national security going to be destroyed NOW for when we could be using what we own?"

That's idiotic.....when do you think OS oil would be available if it is found..... Do you think it would impact domestic production enough to turn around the consistent drop in production that occured since 1972? Has no one been drilling since 1972,ie in the last 40 years? How much do you think we have off shore CA and FLA which is where you wingnuts think the mother lode is?? What has been done about the unexplored 67,000,000 acres of leases already owned and not explored? With regard to the SPR, why can't we keep off shore oil and ANWR as the strategic reserve.... You're talking about a drop in the bucket.

For your info, Bush's comments had squat to do with the small downturn in gas prices....90 billion less miles driven in the last year is the more likely cause.... ie there is less gasoline being sold. 90 billion miles translates to about 310,000 barrels of oil per day saved. In the month of May motorists drove 10 billion less miles, ie 500 million gallons worth (at 20 mpg average)

RWnuts seem to think off shore could be productive tomorrow which is simply silly..... In point of fact, it will NEVER cause a reversal of domestic output.....get used to it, we peaked in 1972.
