Can obama move from traditional liberalism to progressive and eclectic? Can McCain break from republican orthodoxy and as a popular president take us to that place? That was a good post -- but I think you're missing the point on Obama & McCain. McCain is a moderate at his core. Obama is an extremist liberal. McCain really doesn't NEED to "break from the republican orthodoxy" as he has already done it. Obama, OTOH, is extreme and once elected will take us to the hard left, particularly if unchecked by a liberal Congress (which we'll clearly have).
