He is at worst a liberal no different than gore or kerry for example. At best he is more eclectic and pragmatic than those two and not as wedded to traditional liberalism. For example he is for faith based initiatives. I also would bet he doesnt much like the teachers unions. Also u of chicago economics not lost to him and there is a progressive brand at UC that fits his message better..
