I think it's inappropriate to be comparing the actual performance of a portfolio comprised 50% of stock and 50% of fixed income funds solely to the S&P500 index performance.

As a measure of P3's performance, I would be comparing the actual P3 Portfolio performance to two appropriately weighted index fund benchmarks - 50% to the VNGD S&P500 Index Fund, and, 50% to an appropriate Index Fixed Income Fund with an average maturity similar to the funds in P3.
