Nobel Peace Prize laureate and "environmentalist" Al Gore had Bill Clinton release part of the SPR when gas reached $1.50/gallon back in 2000. The justification was to make sure poor people in the Northeast can afford heating oil for the coming winter.

This "inconvenient truth" was sometimes defended by the liberals on this thread, including Ted.
