That may be the most comprehensive and concise explanation of the problem. So often, one sees posts that proclaim that a stock is not being naked shorted and points to its absence on the Reg Sho lists. Byrne explains how these lists and the monthly numbers of all shorts really don't tell investors and regulators what they need to know. Why does this happen? It's not to give us efficient and fair markets. It's to keep the information for the industry insiders and money pools and to keep that big target on the backs of us retail investors.
