E) the chart is measuring rasterization performance - one of the most embarassingly parallel workloads out there.

Amdahl's Law does apply to the serial portion of the graphics engine, but not to the raw processing of millions of independent triangles into pixels.


I could buy that.

Like graphicsguru said, once everything is transformed, the whole thing can be streamed past the cores and each can pick out the portions of the scene that it cares about. There's still contention for texture data in the pixel shaders though.

But if that's the case, it would be nice to see some indication of it on the chart, rather than setting up false expectations.

Maybe it's Anand who failed to provide the correct context for the chart. There are some "*"'s in there...
