Kenneth, Keep in mind that significant tire under-inflation directly affects only about 25% of the total cars on the road (per the NHTSA). Was Obama right to suggest that keeping your tires properly inflated and having regular maintenance performed on your car will save on fuel costs; yes of course he was. But we need to be thinking of the bigger picture - we need to maintain our cars better, as well as drill for more oil here in the U.S. and start relying on alternative energy sources...
