This issue is Democrats achilles heel. 1. A determined enemy driven by religious zealotry and funded by deep pockets has declared war on all Americans. Therefore it's necessary to expend the funds necessary to retain a strong military...especially when it has won the first battle of the war. 2. Yes, Pres Clinton gutted the military during his 8yrs, which was immediately prior to the first catastrophic terrorist attack on the US homeland. Dem presidents really are nationally security challenged--their liberal instints lead them to weaken the military, then they hesitate to take decisive action when the US is attacked in any way. That's why Carter was hobbled when Iran took US hostages, and Clinton's reluctance to capture binLaden resulted in 9/11. >McCain's smart enough to know that we can't just keep throwing money at the military. Do you actually believe that Clinton did more damage to the military than Bush??<
