Great post, Jim, but the same arguments can be said by those who think our long-term energy future lies in solar and wind.

Try telling them basic scientific facts, such as the actual energy content of sunlight at noon on the equator (1 kW/m2). Try arguing against MIT professors who think all energy roads lead to the sun (but won't do basic math to see if their own claims fit reality):

If we really want to see our energy problems solved, we would start with Albert Einstein, who already proved it's possible with E=mc2. Then we would pour money into nuclear and fusion energy.

Instead, we'd rather give guys like Al Gore the Nobel Peace Prize for saying we're facing a "planetary emergency." No wonder Pelosi is pretending to be Captain Planet.
