I like the concept that 'peak oil' is not reflective of the actually reserves on our globe, but the acknowledgement that we must reach a 'peak' USAGE of oil that will be replaced by friendlier alternatives.
Look at China today. Their air is so horrible that they are closing many plants, and allowing cars with odd and even license plate numbers on the roads on alternative days JUST to not show the pollution of their air for the Olympics.
After the Olympics, if they resume their standard ways the populace is obviously going to die earlier than they should just alone with the effects on their bodies.
