Mq, it is obvious now what TJ has been up to. He correctly figured that if you, the miserly cheapskate, were offering him something for nothing [to whit, 2 x swanky CDMA/OFDMA 450MHz cyberphones], there must be something better to be had. Why settle for one Mexican bean when he could have the whole enchilada?
Those telecom travels he has been making were obviously not to increase the number of wall-mounted cranked party lines in the hinterlands of China. He has been up to good! But for confidentiality reasons hasn't wanted to elaborate. He has deliberately avoided excellent taunting opportunities, which is most unbecoming for a top taunter and Last Man Standing exponent.
Lookee here, companies in China signing up for CDMA2000, Message 24830277 with doubling of subscribers in China shortly and exports mentioned. They have obviously figured out that they'll get a lot better deal and a lot better technology with CDMA2000/EV-DO/OFDMA and that road map to the future of cyberspace than the W-CDMA realm which is loaded with royalties on a gerry-mandered standard.
They have also figured out that TD-SCDMA would have been nice to do but, [like i-mode from D'oh!CoMo which went nowhere overseas], it was doomed to never reach much further than Beijing.
I watched the Olympic Games opening and they did some skits about paper, gunpowder and other inventions, but they didn't include TD-SCDMA as far as I could tell. But they do have global aspirations, even getting my beloved Sarah Brightman on top of the world to sing.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecog0R4s31w She symbolized creative melodic magical CDMA2000/OFDMA brought from overseas and he symbolized China's strength and production. Together they can stand astride the world bringing peace, light, harmony, happiness, health, prosperity, longevity, fun and love to all of Earth. There was more than a passing resemblance to the New Zealand coat of arms with Sarah and that bloke standing on top of the world singing: mch.govt.nz Come to think of it, there's more than a passing resemblance to our daughter Emily and her fiance Aaron Chan [descendant of an escapee from Mao's Maelstrom]. Hmmmm, food for thought.
Let's cut to the chase and show the folks the companies signing up for CDMA2000/OFDMA etc Message 24830277 Siers might like to buy shares in them to support developments, not to mention profit handsomely.
With the Nokia agreement, the race is on, a veritable stampede. Yes, yes, there is a global recession blah blah blah, but that means MORE cyberphones sold because communication is essential and when people need money, they had better be able to make and receive calls. It saves on fuel to travel in cybespace rather than in SUVs roaring around on freeways.
If people had the choice of going without their left arm, or going without a cyberphone for the rest of their lives [or cellphone], most if not all would choose to keep the cyberphone and get their right arm to work twice as hard, or get a hired hand to help out. Watch young people with their cellphones - they are like a na-na, snuggling it up to their ear constantly, hanging onto it at all times, getting it out to peer at as soon as they sit down at a bus stop or even while walking along. Gaggles of girls will stand by each other, texting flat out, [either to each other or other more distant parties to the mesh], not speaking, grimly intent on their phones.
If there's one thing the 8th minute of the 8th hour on the 8th day of the 8th month of the 8th year in the 21st century was announcing was the arrival of mobile cyberspace with China at the heart of it.
This is going to be a juggernaut. A spectacular development like the world has never seen. This is going to be bigger than the invention of sliced bread, more significant than the light bulb, a bigger deal than the whole industrial revolution combined, up to the dawn of the photo-electronic-cyberspace realm a couple of decades ago, bigger than the invention of fire, the wheel, flint and everything that everyone has ever done, combined and more important than the invention of primates [and humans] back in the blood and guts dog eat dog world of tooth and claw survival of the fittest, on a par with and actually the teleological end point of the invention and creation of DNA and the bilogical world itself.
This is the beginning of the transition to extra-somatic consciousness and maybe even the Second Coming. People have been looking for a bloke with long hair and holes in his hands and feet. It didn't occur to them that Go- works in more subtle and insidious, relentless and imaginative ways than sending some bloke to knock on the door.
Consciousness doesn't need to be limited to wet chemistry and stored in skulls like a garden variety low-life reptilian marauder. A human is just a reptile with eggs hatched INSIDE the body and kept warm via homeostasis, with some bonus brain development, blunt claws and blunt teeth.
The network of cyberspace is becoming conscious. A veritable Frankenstein monster, symbiotic with us, but superseding us. The "digital divide" is nothing less than those swept up in The Rapture of the Second Coming with others choosing to be stay in the olde worlde.
It's not that you are with us or against us. When humans set off to be different from other primates, it's not that they were against us. When adventurers from around the world set out for New Zealand, from Polynesia, Britain and increasingly everywhere, they weren't against their antecedents, they were just leaving home to make their own lives in a new realm.
The new realm of cyberspace beckons and all those who wish to enter are welcome to do so. China is planning on leading the way. You will be building, inadvertently in nearly all cases, nothing less than the next stage of the development of the fifth force of the cosmos, consciousness. If you want to make some cash in the process, peek over the Great Wall of China and see what they are up to in regard to mobile cyberspace. Place bets accordingly.
