Sorry to disappoint but I disagree the region has a big variety of ethnic groups and if each of them will form a "State" it will end up with numerous city states comprised of 50K to 150K people - it would be similar to each Indian tribe or ethnic American group to demand a state of their own.

Imagine the State of Irish New York and Italian New York and Jewish New York and African American New York and Indian New York and Chinese New York so on - for sure their population is much bigger that Abkhazia <GGG>

So the comparison is not exactly accurate
