Ted, I'd be happy to see solar and wind make up 25% of our energy needs. That will take a big bite out of our dependence on oil.

The only thing is that we will not complete eliminate that dependence without some major breakthroughs. My view is that will come from fusion, but that's decades away. Therefore, we need to stretch our oil reserves long enough to get there, and to that end solar and wind is the key.


Gas is the major derivative that we get from the crude we import. If over the next ten years cars eventually go to hybrid and then electric, how much oil do you think we will be importing? Especially if our heating and AC needs are met by NG, hydroelectric and nukes.
