Thanks for the tip on tautology wg, and I did look it up. If you read the the next paragraph the post goes on to say... The red army only became a problem after the Nazis tried to extinguish it Which is a true reflection of my view. There had become by necessity a huge powerful and well equipped force. It was not just the USA arms that made them strong. The technology that grew at home during the WW2 years was only eclipsed by nuclear weapons (/edit and advanced air power) at the time. Sorry if my written words are not up to scratch.
