FROM TYP: Singer Isaac Hayes has sadly died of a heart attack. As I have discussed before, I have heard of, and known, many men who have died on the treadmill.
While of course exercise is of extreme importance, I theorize that the pounding our hearts take on a treadmill while under high heart rate and BP, may not be a good thing for someone with plaque. Does this high stress pounding and jolting dislodge plaque? Stands to reason it could be possible.
I have lost friends this way, and it seems very common, tragically. My personal viewpoint and intuition cautions everyone to be careful with heavy treadmill workouts if you have plaque. A bike ride or brisk walk might be a wiser choice, IMHO.

If plaque is unrecognized or if a full-assault preventive effort is not undertaken, plaque remains potentially unstable, subject to the shear stress that exercise represents.
People engaged in an intensive preventive effort, such as what you and I do here, are far, far more likely to have stable, shear-resistant plaque that is able to withstand the pounding of a treadmill routine. Dr Davis |
